Comprehensive Plan Amendment
The Planning & Zoning Commission at its Regular Meeting held September 14, 2022 unanimously approved (9-0) the proposed amendment to the Comprehensive Plan which can be reviewed below in its entirety. This amendment effectively recognizes "multifamily" (i.e. apartments, condominiums, townhomes, or any single structure with multiple dwellings) as appropriate land uses under limited conditions. Because multifamily uses remain prohibited under existing city ordinances, a text amendment to the Zoning Code would be required prior to consideration of future multifamily projects including the Magnolia Ridge petition referenced above. Moving forward, the Planning & Zoning Commission intends to review prospective changes to the Zoning Code that would allow multifamily projects to occur on a limited basis including restricted placement along the Manchester Road corridor west of Ballas Road.
